Man charged after death of Dalkeith taxi driver

THE family of a taxi driver who died following an altercation have paid tribute to a “much-loved” partner, father, grandfather and brother.

Thomas Milligan, 55, died after the incident on Lauder Road in Dalkeith, Midlothian, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he was pronounced dead.

Police said that a 22-year-old man has been charged following the incident and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Mr Milligan’s family paid tribute to him in a statement released through police.

They said: “Tam was a very much-loved partner, father, grandfather and brother who will be sadly missed.

“He devoted his time to his work being a driving instructor and taxi driver. He loved socialising with his friends on a Sunday afternoon at the local pub and enjoyed listening to music.

“The family request to be left alone at this difficult time to come to terms with their loss”.
