Man arrested in connection with Dundee murder

A 21 year-old man was today arrested in connection with the murder of another man in a tower block in Dundee.

The Tayside Division of Police Scotland launched a murder hunt after the body of a man, who is believed to have been stabbed, was discovered in the early hours of Sunday morning after officers were called to reports of a disturbance in Elders Court, a multi storey block in South Road, Lochee.

The area around the tower block was sealed off as forensic officers carried out a detailed examination of the area.

The man who died, understood to be in his late teens or early 20s, has still to be named.

A spokesman for the Tayside Division of Police Scotland said today: “Police Scotland Tayside Division can confirm that a 21 year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of a man within Elders Court in the Lochee area of Dundee in the early hours of yesterday morning.

“He is expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court tomorrow.”

The spokesman added: “Formal identification of the murder victim is expected to take place later today.”

The man who was allegedly murdered has been named locally as 29 year-old Michael Given, known as Mikey.
