Man arrested in connection with Dumfries sex attack inquiry

A man has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a woman in Dumfries.

The 40-year-old woman was attacked after an incident in the town’s Munches Street on Saturday night.

Police Scotland said a 34-year-old man from Crocketford, Dumfries and Galloway, has been arrested and a report sent to the procurator fiscal. He was expected to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court.

Detective Sergeant Scott Torrance said: “We have been pleased with the response from the public to our appeal for witnesses in this case and we continue the appeal that if anyone has any information which may assist then they should call us at Dumfries on 101.”
