Man arrested after five-hour stand-off

Dozens of officers, some of them armed, had earlier surrounded a property in the Glenmore area of Whitburn.

Eyewitnesses said more than 15 police vehicles could be seen at the scene and a police spokesman said the area had been cordoned off from around 1:30pm following "an incident".

"At about 6:25pm the incident was resolved with a male being detained. Throughout, there was no perceived risk to residents."
