Mammoth burger challenge at The City Cafe could be hard to swallow

IT has been branded the “Ultimate Burger Challenge” and judging by the look of it few would argue.

The towering meat feast has been cooked up by The City Cafe, boasting three homemade hamburgers, two marinated chicken breasts and bacon.

For a bit of dietary balance, there’s also two spicy bean burgers, two pineapple rings, mushrooms, gherkins, two types of cheese, guacamole and salad.

And it’s served up with a huge plate of gourmet chips and coleslaw.

Bosses at the Blair Street eatery have issued a challenge to diners – finish the £30 dish within 45 minutes and they will pick up the bill.

A T-shirt and a place on a wall of fame also awaits successful participants, who must be aged 18 or over, when the contest begins on January 31.

Eating contests have become increasingly popular in the wake of the TV show Man vs Food, which sees people do battle with enormous meals.

A “world’s hottest chilli” competition held at the Kismot curry house in 2011 saw two people taken to hospital.

A cafe spokesman said: “Our burger is mighty and not for the faint-hearted.”
