Make a meal of shedding the pounds

A SPORTING solution to Christmas excess is being run in aid of poverty-stricken schoolchildren.

Scottish Squash and Racketball Limited (SSRL) today launched it's Great Big Racketball Challenge, an event aimed at getting people active to lose a few pounds on the racketball court and raise money for Mary's Meals - a charity which provides poor youngsters with at least one square meal each day.

More than 400,000 children in 15 countries are fed by Mary's Meals every day.

SSRL chairman Ron Pearman said, "During the months of January and February we all need to work off the excesses of December, and we thought the charity element would give people that little bit more motivation.

"In their efforts everyone you can make an immense contribution - doing themselves a lot of good and doing much more for others."
