Mail van on green route

THE mailroom at East Lothian Council has become the first business in Scotland to deploy an electric van to make its deliveries.

The new Ford Connect van is expected to be more economical and eco-friendly than traditional fuels.

A charge-point has been installed at the depot which can ‘fill-up’ the electric van in around eight hours.

Cllr Barry Turner, cabinet member for environment, said: “This is most definitely a step in the right direction for achieving a greener East Lothian. We will be monitoring the benefits.”
