M74 motorway 'could create 700 jobs'

THE new M74 motorway extension could be the catalyst for creating 700 jobs in the Glasgow area, the Scottish Government has claimed.

Infrastructure minister Alex Neil also announced that regeneration company Clyde Gateway is in advanced negotiations with two major property development companies to invest 14 million in a new business park.

The Clyde Gateway East site is adjacent to the new motorway's Fullarton Road junction 2a.

Mr Neil said: "When it opens on 28 June, the M74 completion scheme will provide improved access to economic, employment and education opportunities for the people of Scotland.

"It will particularly unlock enormous potential for urban regeneration programmes in the west of Scotland, including the developments being taken forward by Clyde Gateway.

"This significant investment in the Clyde Gateway East site, providing 700 jobs, is tangible proof of this potential being achieved."
