Dalmeny, who is the Chairman of the British Branch of Southeby’s, at London’s New Bond Street, pleaded guilty to speeding by letter to the court.

He did not attend City of London Magistrates’ Court today where chair of the bench and Labour peer Lord Ponsonby fined him £400.

Dalmeny, who lives in Dalmeny House, South Queensferry, was also ordered to pay £85 costs, a victim surcharge of £40, and his driving license was endorsed with four points.

The Scottish nobleman’s son, who has five children of his own, has worked as an auctioneer at some of Southeby’s biggest sales.

He is Deputy Lieutenant for the county of Midlothian and is a member of the Royal Company of Archers.

Dalmeny admitted speeding.
