London tower block fire: More than 100 firefighters tackle blaze in east London flat block

Emergency services were called to the scene of a fire in a 19-storey block of flats in east London just before 9am on Friday.

Around 100 firefighters and 20 fire engines are in attendance tackling the fire at New Providence Wharf in east London

The London Fire Brigade confirmed that parts of the eight, ninth and 10th floors are on fire within the block of flats on Fairmount Avenue in Poplar.

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) are also on the scene, a spokesperson tweeted: "We have responded alongside the London Fire Brigade to a fire in a residential building in Poplar.

"A number of crews, including from the Hazardous Area Response Team and The London Ambulance Service Emergency Planning & Resilience Officers are on the scene."
