Lithuanian man, 27, dies in fire as three rescued from another blaze

POLICE have revealed that the victim of a house fire in Argyll was a Lithuanian man.

The body of Marius Kliuskas, 27, was discovered after firefighters extinguished a blaze at a flat in Main Street, Campbeltown, shortly before 7am on Friday. It is not deemed to have been suspicious.

Yesterday a Strathclyde Police spokesman said: "Relatives are aware and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal. There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death."

Meanwhile, the fire service rescued two men and a woman from a block of flats in Glenfinnan Drive, Maryhill, Glasgow, yesterday morning. Three crews attended the blaze on Glenfinnan Drive in Maryhill at around 11am.

The three residents were rescued from the second and third floors using ladders.

They were examined by paramedics but were not hurt, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue said.

Residents in adjacent flats were evacuated as the fire was brought under control.

A fire service spokesman said: "Our incident research and investigation section are currently in attendance and will carry out a joint investigation with the police."
