Lifeboats aid tourist craft

A TOURIST boat on a trip to the Bass Rock had to be rescued by the Coastguard after its engine cut out.

Four passengers were on board the Sula II when it reported difficulties at around noon yesterday.

Two fishing boats, the Seabird One and The Easy, went to its assistance by attaching a rope to stop it drifting as the Coastguard put a plan in place.

The Dunbar and North Berwick lifeboats then reached the vessel and towed it back to shore.

Coastguard Angus MacIver said: “It was all quite straightforward. As soon as there were problems they did exactly the right thing and contacted us. The passengers were never at any risk.”
