Lifeboat in two call-outs

The Queensferry lifeboat was called out twice yesterday morning.

Around 10.45am there were reports of red flares being let off, and the boat was tasked with investigating.

A coastguard spokesman said: “We had reports of red flares being let off but nothing was found, so we think it was a false alarm with good intent, with someone letting them off on the shore.”

The boat was also called out to reports of children on a rock close to Muirhouse, but they got themselves to safety before rescue was needed.
