EDINBURGH'S revived community radio station was beginning broadcast testing this weekend ahead of a full launch in summer.
Leith FM, which has been awarded a five-year licence, were sending out some test transmissions today, expected to be made up of "legacy recordings".
Station chairman Stewart Lochhead and his team are aiming towards a May launch, and a transmitter has been erected on top of a block of flats in Leith. It will broadcast on 98.8 FM.
Staff are on the hunt for premises larger than the current Academy Street studios. Approaches have been made to legendary pirate station Radio Caroline to take its Ross Revenge vessel from the Thames and base it on Leith Docks.
