Lawyers withdraw attempt to bankrupt Craig Whyte

ONE OF Scotland’s leading legal firms has withdrawn an attempt to bankrupt former Rangers owner Craig Whyte.

Harper Macleod, a firm that previously acted on behalf of Mr Whyte, raised a petition to sequestrate the 41-year-old at Inverness Sheriff Court.

However, the firm requested that the petition be dismissed and expenses of £613.13 awarded to them, a motion that was then granted.

Harper Macleod represented Mr Whyte as he negotiated his split from his estranged wife Kim, and also in business affairs for the now-liquidated Tixway firm run by Mr Whyte.

London firm Ticketus has also launched legal action over the personal guarantees Mr Whyte gave the company during the deal he made with them, whilst another legal firm, Bannatyne Kirkwood France and Co., is also taking legal action against Mr Whyte. The firm were employed by the former Rangers owner as he attempted to sue the BBC after it had aired a documentary about him.
