A CAPITAL lawyer is behind bars accused of fraud against a major property firm.

Gordon Manson, 48, was snared by detectives over claims he used fake details to swindle a blue chip developer.

The former George Watson’s pupil appeared at City of London Magistrates’ Court on Friday and was remanded into custody until next month.

Police have refused to reveal details of the alleged offence.

But a source said: “Manson has been flitting between Edinburgh, London and the tax haven of Andorra.

“He has the ability to
walk into the offices of
major legal and property firms and pass himself off as legitimate.”

Manson was accused of
£20 million frauds in 2003
but struck a deal to admit just £3m and was jailed for seven years.

Lothian and Borders Police fraud unit detectives spent almost three years investigating his activities, which stretched across the UK.

A City of London Police spokesperson said: “Gordon Manson has been remanded in custody to appear again on August 10.”
