Landscaper faces jail after being caught carrying gun

A LANDSCAPE gardener is facing a minimum of five years in prison after being caught with a gun during a massive covert police probe into one of Scotland's biggest drug gangs.

Gordon Crozier drove to England and back with the illegal gun in his car, unaware he was being followed by a fleet of undercover police officers.

Crozier, 44, of Gilmerton Dykes Terrace, Edinburgh, was being monitored as part of Operation Nuclear because of his links to gunman and drug baron Sean McGovern and his gang.

The six-month operation eventually led to the jailing of a number of gang members. Yesterday, at the High Court in Perth, Crozier became the latest to be locked up.

He will face a mandatory minimum of five years in jail after being found guilty by a jury of having an illegal self-loading pistol on 24 August, 2008.

He was also found guilty of two further charges relating to the gun and a cartridge containing five rounds of live ammunition which was loaded and ready to fire.

Sentence was deferred to the High Court in Edinburgh until 4 May. He was remanded in custody.
