Killer's driver pleads guilty to road offences

A WOMAN who unwittingly drove a getaway car for a murderer has admitted driving dangerously at double the speed limit and causing a police constable to jump out of her path.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday heard Natasha Fell, 22, was asked to give Philip Graham a lift to the home address of Mark Johnston along with two others.

Graham, 23, of West Pilton Terrace, admitted murdering Mr Johnston, 31, at Edinburgh's Haddington Place on 14 June, 2009, when he appeared at the High Court in Glasgow last year.

He was sentenced to life and must serve at least ten years before he is eligible for release.

Fell, of Pilton Place, admitted driving dangerously at speeds of up to 60mph in a 30mph zone, failing to comply with a stop sign and driving at Pc Andrew Stewart, causing him to take evasive action. The offence happened on 14 June last year at Haddington Place, Annandale Street, Ferry Road and elsewhere in Edinburgh.

Defence solicitor advocate Brian Gilfedder said Fell was simply asked to drive, unaware something was going to happen.

Sheriff Deidre MacNeill QC deferred sentence on Fell until next month for reports.
