Killer faces extra year in jail for scalding fellow con

A CONVICTED killer who scalded a fellow convict with boiling water has had an extra year added to his sentence.

Serial knife thug Kristopher Marshall carried out the horrific attack in Addiewell Prison, West Lothian, as an act of revenge.

Marshall, 28, threw the hot water into Steven Lynch’s face, causing his skin to blister and peel.

At Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday he claimed his victim had knocked him unconscious earlier that day.

Paul Beaton, prosecuting said the accused and his victim were in separate cells four doors apart. The accused was seen holding a water bottle as Lynch came out of his cell.

As he went to walk past, Marshall turned and threw the hot liquid over him.

The victim was taken to St John’s Hospital in Livingston, where he received treatment.

Marshall, formerly of Bridgeton in Glasgow, pleaded guilty on indictment to assaulting Lynch at the West Lothian prison on July 23 last year.

The prison sentence will start at the end of Marshall’s present ten-year term. He will be kept under supervision for four years on his release.
