Killer cleared of shop robbery charge

A CONVICTED killer has been cleared of trying to rob a 74-year-old shopkeeper.

John Hutchison had been accused of a raid on Donnelly's Newsagents in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, last October.

A jury yesterday returned a not-proven verdict on Hutchison, of Bellshill, following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.
