Nick Hudson will join Marketing Edinburgh as head of marketing from today, a pivotal role in strengthening the capital’s promotion.

The body has come under fire in recent months over the city’s “Incredinburgh” winter festival marketing drive, with both chief executive Lucy Bird and marketing head Alan Gibson leaving.

Mr Hudson’s most recent position was as head of marketing communications for Heineken UK. His first major task is expected to be to contribute to a major campaign to revitalise the capital’s tourist offering,

He said: “Being part of high-profile companies such as Kellogg’s has taught me the importance of really understanding your target audience, how to be as efficient, yet as imaginative, as possible in marketing and also to agree and properly measure success.

“These are principles that I look forward to bringing with me to Marketing Edinburgh.”
