Kean lawyers mull sentence appeal

LAWYERS for William Kean are planning to appeal his sentence and possibly his conviction as well, The Scotsman understands.

The 46-year-old was ordered to serve at least 22 years for the murder of Pethshire pensioner Jenny Methven, 80.

A source said: “An appeal is being considered, I can’t say anymore than that.” He added: “His sentence is likely to be appealed. I think the issue of conviction will be looked at.”

Kean was convicted on Monday of the murder of Ms Methven in her cottage in Forteviot, Perthshire, on 20 February.
