Jury shown CCTV footage of last sighting of Suzanne Pilley

A COURT has been shown CCTV footage of a missing bookkeeper with the man accused of her murder two days before she disappeared.

The High Court in Edinburgh saw images of Suzanne Pilley shopping in a convenience store with David Gilroy on the evening of May 2, 2010.

Gilroy, 49, denies murdering her on May 4 2010 in Edinburgh, or elsewhere, hiding her body and driving away with it in the boot of his car. He further pleads not guilty to trying to cover up the alleged killing.

The court heard Detective Sergeant Stuart Houston, of Lothian and Borders Police, tell how his team drafted in officers from Fife, Tayside and Dumfries & Galloway police to analyse hours of CCTV footage to establish Ms Pilley’s last known whereabouts.

The court saw a couple, identified by the officer as Mr Gilroy and Ms Pilley, enter a Scotmid store in Saughtonhall Drive, Edinburgh at around 6.20pm on May 2 2010.

It is alleged Mr Gilroy repeatedly stated to officers and other persons that he stopped having a relationship with Ms Pilley in December 2009.

The court then saw CCTV footage of Ms Pilley’s last known journey two days later, taken from two Lothian Buses and several buildings on the way to her workplace at Infrastructure Management in the city’s Thistle Street.

The last confirmed image of the 38-year-old bookkeeper saw her passing the offices of Standard Life, just round the corner from her office.

The court also saw a faint image taken from a distant camera of a person walking towards her work entrance and disappearing behind a black cab.
