A solar race car and a generator-powered Scalextric will feature at a climate change and renewables event in the Royal Botanic Garden.

The Ecology Centre, a project supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, will be manning an information stall in the Real Life Science Studio on Monday.

Children will have the chance to make a windmill and discover how learning to save energy could help save the planet at the event, at which there will be a bike that users can cycle on to light up some bulbs.

The event will run from 10.45am to 2.45pm.

The People’s Postcode Lottery, which manages society lotteries for a range of charitable bodies, has raised more than £25.6 million for good causes.
