Jail for ‘shocked’ courier

A DRUG courier was shocked to find he was carrying a consignment of high-purity cocaine which could have sold for almost half a million pounds on the streets, a court heard.

Cletus Okpala agreed to make the delivery because he was in debt, the High Court in Edinburgh heard yesterday.

Solicitor advocate Paul Burns, defending, added: “I think it is fair to say he did not know the nature of the drug, nor its value.”
