Jacobite bowl sale

A PUNCH bowl featuring a portrait of Bonnie Prince Charlie made in China just before the Battle of Culloden is set to fetch thousands at auction in the Capital.

The bowl was commissioned by a wealthy Scots Jacobite around 1744.

It will be auctioned by Bonhams in Queen Street on Wednesday, when it is expected to raise £3000.

Asha Edwards, Bonhams’ Asian specialist, said: “This punch bowl is very unusual. It would have been the property of a very wealthy and flamboyant Jacobite with connections with a trusted merchant in China.”
