It’s their crowning glory . .

Television presenter Lorraine Kelly, rugby veteran Chris Paterson and celebrity hairdresser Charlie Miller, have received honours from the Queen.

The famous trio were joined by figures from fields such as medicine, the arts, business and the voluntary sector at the investiture ceremony held at Holyrood Palace. More than 70 people collected their honours at the service, which is part of the Queen’s week-long visit to Scotland in her Diamond Jubilee year.

Kelly, 52, from Dundee, was given an OBE in the New Year Honours list. She said: “I was very, very nervous, but it was an incredible experience.”

Paterson, who recently announced his retirement from the international game, described the event as a “fantastic moment”.
