Italy: Parmalat founder sentenced to jail

An Italian court yesterday convicted Parmalat founder Calisto Tanzi of fraudulent bankruptcy and criminal association in the ?€14 billion failure (£11.5bn) of his dairy empire, and sentenced him to 18 years in prison. He will appeal, his lawyer said.
