Irish surfer washes up safely on Islay

A NORTHERN Irish surfer has conquered a marathon challenge by dodging tankers, trawlers and an oil rig to paddle from Ireland to Scotland.

Al Mennie’s charity challenge saw him set off from the Giant’s Causeway, Antrim at 6:30am on Tuesday and arrive on Islay nine hours and 25 minutes later.
