Interview: Ann Firbank Actor - My life in clothes

What's the last piece of clothing you bought?

It was a white Sloggi bra, to wear underneath the T-shirt that I had to wear on stage.

Best ever bargain? I get lots of bargains by the likes of Nicole Farhi at a great designer warehouse called DWS in London.

Who has great style? I'd choose my friend Amanda Walker, a Scottish actress. She always looks maddeningly beautiful in linen.

Name your favourite high street shop. Topshop. I like their personal shopping service.

What are you addicted to buying? Linen, especially by the designer Perry Ellis. I'm always happy when summer comes around, so I can wear lots of it.

Any fashion disasters you'd care to tell us about? I wore a lot of hippy-ish stuff in the Eighties, including a strange coat that a friend brought me from Afghanistan.

What's your favourite item in your wardrobe? A piece of sage green knitwear with red stitching by Linda Dooley.
