Insulation cash drive hotting up

LOFT and cavity wall insulation in homes in East Lothian will be paid for by the Scottish Government.

The funding has been secured as part of a national scheme to improve energy efficiency in Scotland’s homes.

East Lothian Council said the initiative had already gone down well in Tranent and Musselburgh, where it has been offered previously.

It has now been opened up to the whole of East Lothian.

It is estimated that loft insulation can save householders up to £175 a year, while cavity wall insulation can save up to £135 annually.

Funding will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Applicants must be either homeowners or private tenants. A free survey will be carried out before any work is completed.
