Inquiry rules on jail death

A FATAL accident inquiry has found that a killer who passed away in prison died from pneumonia after refusing to take his HIV anti-viral medication.

Raymond Holland, 40 received a life sentence in 1989 for murdering a fellow inmate at Greenock young offenders’ institution, where he was serving time for robbery.

The HIV-positive Saughton Prison inmate fell ill in April last year and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he died.
