Inquiry into death of new mother
Lesley Cowie, 31, suffered complications when her baby Grace was delivered by Caesarian section at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Post mortem examinations revealed that the Aberdeen mother had died as a result of an abdominal haemorrhage.
The condition is linked to a form of benign liver tumour. It is sometimes associated with oral contraceptive medication and does not normally cause problems. However, it can enlarge and bleed in some women during pregnancy.
