Injured kangaroo closes part of Melbourne Airport

PART of the airport in Australia’s second largest city was temporarily closed after an injured kangaroo made its way into a pharmacy in the terminal building.

The eastern grey kangaroo, named Cyrus by his rescuers, had apparently been struck by a car on a nearby road.

The animal made its way to the second-floor shop and stayed for several hours before wildlife experts were able to tranquilise him and take him to a vet.

The airport is near bushland which is known to be home to a group of kangaroos, and last year one of the creatures was found bouncing around one of Melbourne Airport’s car parks.
