Industry recognition for city bus engineer

A SENIOR engineer at Lothian Buses has come runner-up for a top industry award.

Bill Devlin came second in the Engineer of the Year category at the UK Bus Awards, having fought off stiff competition from around the UK.

Ian Craig, the bus company's managing director, said: "Bill Devlin is an outstanding engineering director who stands head and shoulders above many of his contemporaries, and we are delighted that he is runner-up.

"The company has strived to transform Edinburgh's public transport over the years, but Lothian Buses is nothing without its 2000-strong workforce, each of whom play a vital role."

Lothian Buses was shortlisted in the City Operator of the Year category, the Environment Award, the Infrastructure Award and the Accessibility Award.

Mr Craig added: "To be nominated for so many awards at this prestigious event is a credit to all the hard work at Lothian Buses."
