Illegal immigration into EU is dropping

The European Union's border agency Frontex said it has seen a significant drop in the number of illegal immigrants crossing into the EU from Greece's north-eastern land border with Turkey since it deployed its first rapid border intervention teams last month.

Numbers crossing have reduced from around 250-300 a day, to about 140, it said.
