Identity of Perth train’s action man revealed

THE rail passenger who became a YouTube hit after hauling an alleged fare dodger off a train has been revealed.

More than 500,000 people have watched Alan Pollock, from Stirling, grab student Sam Main, and throw him off the Edinburgh to Perth train, on to the platform at Linlithgow, West Lothian, on Friday evening.

Mr Pollock then stopped the 19-year-old getting back on, before returning to his seat to a round of applause from fellow passengers.

Despite his new-found fame, Mr Pollock’s wife Avril said he was keeping a low profile.

“I had a look at the video, and my husband doesn’t want to comment,” she said. “He’s a very private person, he doesn’t even have his own Facebook.”

Mr Main, from Falkirk, who is studying building surveying at Heriot-Watt University, denied attempting to fare dodge.

“I did have a ticket but I must have handed the wrong one over to the conductor,” he said.
