Hurt walker is airlifted to ERI

A WOMAN was airlifted to the ERI after injuring her ankle during a walk in the Pentland Hills.

The walker was not seriously hurt but was located in a difficult-to-reach area on the Flotterstone side of the regional park on Saturday afternoon.

On the same day a woman escaped serious injury after falling 60ft down an embankment in Midlothian.

Rope rescue specialists from Lothian and Borders Fire service had to use a stretcher on a pulley to take the 42-year-old back up the embankment to safety near Newbattle.
