Hunt on for owners of killer dogs

THE owners of three dogs who attacked and killed a young deer are being hunted by police.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place at around 4.50pm on Sunday at Gullane Bents in East Lothian.

A man and woman had been walking with three dogs along the beach and in the car park.

The dogs, a greyhound and two deerhounds, attacked the deer, inflicting fatal abdominal wounds before they were brought under control.

A police spokesman said: “This is obviously a distressing incident, especially for those members of the public who saw what happened.

“We are appealing for assistance to help trace the man and woman who were with the dogs, and anyone with any information that can assist our inquiries should contact police immediately.”
