Human rights body moves HQ to Capital

A SCOTTISH public body is moving its headquarters from Glasgow to Edinburgh next month.

The Scottish Human Rights Commission (SHRC) will share premises with the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) in the Capital.

A spokeswoman for SHRC said: "Since being established in 2008, the commission has co-located its office with the Equality and Human Rights Commission in Glasgow, with two desk spaces at the SPSO offices in Edinburgh. From July this arrangement will be reversed, with eight staff and the full-time chair based in Edinburgh and two flexible desk spaces in Glasgow.

"In line with other public bodies, the commission budget is reducing by 15 per cent over the next three financial years, and the office relocation is an important cost-saving step."
