Housing plan for college campus site

A FORMER Lothians college campus is to be transformed in a new multi-million-pound housing development under plans put forward to council chiefs.

West Register (Realisations) Ltd put forward proposals to build 110 houses and 30 flats on the former site of Jewel & Esk Valley College in Eskbank, Dalkeith.

College bosses sold the site for an eight-figure sum back in 2007 to help fund its new campuses.

At the time, the site was considered an ideal location for family homes, especially for those looking to upsize from a current home in the Capital.

Jewel & Esk Valley College has around 8000 students studying at the Edinburgh campus, located in Milton Road East, and the Midlothian campus, based at Hardengreen, Dalkeith.

The plans for the housing development are set to be considered at a future meeting.
