Households hit by gas upgrade problems

Gas pipes in phase two of the Oxgangs regeneration have been under-used and now need to be upgraded.

The upgrade does not relate to a safety issue but the work has to be carried out to allow the gas boilers and cookers to work properly.

Colinton/Fairmilehead councillor Jason Rust said: "This is obviously essential work which requires to be undertaken and I would urge residents to co-operate fully despite the inconvenience.

"The area is being transformed and there were always likely to be glitches in such a large project but I will be discussing with the contractors how this regrettable situation has come about and ensure that they are proactive in dealing with this."
