House fire death

A WOMAN has died after a house fire in Livingston yesterday.

The blaze broke out at the terraced property in Ambrose Rise shortly before 5am yesterday morning.

Lothian and Borders Police said the building was badly damaged in the fire. A spokesman added: "There was one confirmed fatality. Inquiries are ongoing as to the cause of the fire."

The person who died is believed to be a 23-year-old woman. No-one else is thought to have been injured.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze has been extinguished and two engines remained at the scene. A spokeswoman said investigations into the cause of the fire are at an early stage.
