The seven-strong shortlist includes the Sheraton Grand, which recently opened a new restaurant and bar; the five-star Chester Residence aparthotel, which features design-led suites; and fashion house-owned Hotel Missoni, also a finalist in 2011. Greywalls at Gullane in East Lothian, another of last year’s finalists, is also shortlisted.

Prestonfield is up for Romantic Hotel of the Year; Hotel Indigo and The Place for New Hotel of the Year; and the Kyloe Grill at the Rutland Hotel for Hotel Restaurant of the Year.

The awards will be presented on Sunday.
