Hotel truffle is all white

IT might have been gently nuzzled out of the earth by a pig's snout, but the rare white truffle went down a treat with diners at Hotel Missoni.

Head cook Mattia Camorani was joined by Michelin star chef Giorgio Locatelli to give guests a culinary feast as he expertly served up an exclusive white truffle dinner.

Each of the five courses was adapted to compliment the fungi, which is famously extracted by specially trained truffle hogs. The delicacy is highly sought after and at around 2800 per kilo costs three times its black truffle variant.

• Hotel Missoni has been named best new hotel in Europe in the World Travel Awards.
