Homes plan for business site set for go-ahead

PLANS for a massive development of 130 homes, a sports facility, care home and offices look set to get the go-ahead.

Forth Bridges Business Park Developments – a company owned by the Evans Property Group – has submitted a master plan for the development of a vacant site at Ferrymuir, on the outskirts of South Queensferry.

City council planning officials have recommended that the company's plans are approved.

The proposals would represent a departure from the development plan for the area, as it is currently earmarked for purely business developments.

But the developer argued that there is no demand for a purely commercial development, particularly in the current economic climate.

John Bury, head of planning at the city council, said: "Whilst the proposals do not comply fully with the development plan, there are sufficient material considerations to allow a mix of uses."

A final decision will be made by councillors at a planning meeting on Wednesday.
