Homeowners spend more on DIY

MORE than half of all homeowners have carried out work to improve their property during the past year, spending an average of over £6,000 each, a survey shows.

Around 56 per cent of people said they had embarked on a home improvement project during the past 12 months, at an average cost of 6,362 – around 1,000 more than during the previous year, Halifax said.
