Holyrood to rule on health boss post

UNCERTAINTY surrounds the future of one of Lothian’s top health bosses.

Dr Charles Winstanley, the chairman of the NHS Lothian board, is approaching the end of his second term in office.

It is understood that Dr Winstanley was keen to continue in the role for a third term, although the Scottish Government will make the final decision. The post was advertised last year, as is standard procedure. At what could have been his last NHS Lothian board meeting, Dr Winstanley thanked fellow board members and paid tribute to NHS Lothian staff.

He took over the role in 2007, giving up his position as a non-executive director of the Norfolk and Norwich NHS University Hospital Trust.

A Scottish Government spokeswoman declined to give an update on the job, but said an announcement would be made in “due course”.
