Holyrood pledges cash for women’s centre

THE First Minister has announced a £600,000 reprieve for a professional women’s centre which saw its funding removed by the UK Government.

The Scottish Resource Centre for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology at Napier University was set up in 2005 to support women working in the sectors.

Funding for its parent body – the UK Resource Centre for Women in SET – was withdrawn by the UK Government at the end of last year. But Alex Salmond said: “We will fund the centre with £200,000 a year over the next three years.”
