'Hoax' gives 999 services a runaround

A MAJOR search and rescue operation to find an injured runner stranded on Arthur's Seat may have been the result of a hoax.

A man made an emergency call and told operators he had fallen while running around Holyrood Park yesterday.

However, he could not be reached when they attempted to contact him again and control staff deployed police, paramedics and fire crews.

Police dog teams were also dispatched but there was no sign of him.
